I'm not usually known as a superstitious person which is surprising as we normally pick up superstitions from our elders at a really young age and believe me there were a fair few superstitious types in the family. I don’t have a problem about walking under ladders, I have always had good luck with the number 13, don’t have a problem at all with Friday 13th and Green is one of my favourite colours. However I always say Good-day to Magpies, I believe that people can bring bad luck on you through jealous eyes and I would never rename my House (or boat if I were lucky enough to have one).
Here's where my superstion may have some foundation; I once lived in a house which was owned by a once well known comedian who shall remain nameless. He renamed the house shortly after he moved in and following that he had several personal tragedies and his career was never the same. Co-incidence or just superstitious nonsense? It was also never a particularly happy house for me; I had a lot of ill health and a subsequent divorce whilst living there. I met the original owner who actually built the house and gave it its original name which suited it very well and she had had nothing but good luck and happy times while living there. She was well into her 80s when I met her and was hale and hearty. I often wonder what would have happened if we had changed the name back to the original. Many people believe that as soon as you name something you give it its own energy and it starts to pick up the vibes of the people directly involved with it. Many people won't name their cars for this reason. Did my old house not like its new name or was it just picking up bad vibes from those within it, the jury is out.Let me know if you've had any similar experiences or know of anyone who has.
